Introduction

Many people begin therapy during periods of transition, pressure, or reflection.

You may be managing a demanding career, navigating important life decisions, or carrying responsibilities that leave little room to process your own thoughts and emotions. Therapy can provide a dedicated space to pause, reflect, and develop greater clarity about the direction of your life.

At Anderson Counseling & Consulting Services, I work with thoughtful, driven individuals seeking deeper insight, emotional resilience, and meaningful personal growth.

Who I Work With

I specialize in working with high-achieving professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, and leaders who are navigating the pressures of demanding careers while seeking deeper clarity, balance, and purpose in their lives.

Many of my clients are individuals who appear successful on the outside but are privately managing high levels of stress, responsibility, or internal conflict. They come to therapy seeking a space to reflect, grow, and strengthen their emotional and psychological resilience.

Many of my clients are professionals working in fields such as technology, business, academia, and the creative industries.

I also have extensive experience supporting Black and multicultural clients navigating identity, cultural expectations, and systemic stress, as well as men seeking deeper emotional awareness, stronger relationships, and personal growth.

My clients are often thoughtful, driven individuals balancing demanding careers, relationships, and personal expectations while striving to live in alignment with their values and purpose.

Getting Started

If you’re considering therapy and feel that my approach may be a good fit, I invite you to reach out to schedule an initial consultation.

This first conversation provides an opportunity to discuss your goals, ask questions about the therapy process, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit.

A deeper look into our work:

In our first session together, here's what you can expect:

Your first session with me is about creating a safe and comfortable space where you feel heard, supported, and respected. I know starting therapy can feel like a big step, so we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. In our first meeting, I’ll begin by learning more about you—what brought you to therapy, what challenges you’re experiencing, and what goals you’d like to work toward. You don’t need to have everything figured out; many clients come in feeling unsure of where to begin, and that’s completely okay. My role is to guide the conversation with curiosity and care, while giving you the freedom to share at your own pace.

I’ll also ask some background questions about your personal history, important life experiences, and current supports or stressors. This helps me get a fuller picture of who you are and how we can best approach our work together. We’ll then begin discussing possible strategies and next steps that can help you start moving toward your goals.

Just as important, the first session is a chance for you to get a sense of me—my style, my approach, and whether I feel like a good fit for your needs. Therapy works best when there is a strong and trusting connection, so I encourage you to ask questions, share any concerns, and let me know what you’re hoping for in the process.

By the end of the session, most clients leave feeling a sense of relief, validation, and clarity about what therapy might look like moving forward. Together, we’ll set the foundation for ongoing sessions that are supportive, collaborative, and focused on helping you make meaningful progress.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions:

What clients often say stands out about my approach is the balance of warmth, cultural awareness, and practical tools that truly meet them where they are. I combine evidence-based methods such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and relational approaches with a deep respect for each client’s lived experiences and values. This allows me to tailor therapy so it feels both personal and effective, rather than “one size fits all.”

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create a safe and affirming space where clients feel understood without judgment. I work especially well with clients who may have felt overlooked, misunderstood, or minimized in other settings. My training and background in multicultural therapy and racial trauma treatment also help me bring a nuanced understanding to the impact of identity, culture, and systemic factors on mental health. This allows me to support clients in ways that not only validate their experiences but also empower them to move forward with resilience.

Another strength I bring is my ability to translate insight into action. While I provide a compassionate and reflective space, I also offer concrete tools and strategies that clients can practice outside of sessions. This combination helps clients gain both immediate relief and long-term growth.

Finally, I believe my authenticity and commitment to the work make a difference. I show up fully in sessions—present, engaged, and invested in helping clients achieve their goals. My greatest satisfaction comes from watching clients leave therapy with greater clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of possibility for their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve:

My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives, even if they feel unsure of where to begin. Many of the clients I serve come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by stress, weighed down by anxiety or depression, struggling with unresolved trauma, or feeling stuck in unhelpful relationship patterns. They may have tried to handle things on their own but are realizing they want professional support to move forward.

I work well with motivated individuals who value growth, self-awareness, and healing. My clients often describe themselves as caring, ambitious, or resilient, but also recognize that life’s challenges sometimes leave them feeling depleted or disconnected. They may be navigating work-life balance, transitions in school or career, identity and cultural stressors, or the complexities of relationships and family life. Many are seeking not only relief from distress, but also deeper understanding, greater clarity, and healthier ways of coping.

I also specialize in supporting BIPOC clients and those from diverse cultural backgrounds who want a therapist that understands the unique stressors of navigating identity, race, and systemic challenges. My ideal clients in this area may be seeking a space where they don’t have to explain or minimize their experiences, and instead can feel fully seen, validated, and empowered.

Ultimately, my dream clients share a willingness to be open, reflective, and engaged in the therapeutic process. They come to therapy not only to reduce symptoms but to invest in themselves, their relationships, and their long-term well-being. Together, we build on their strengths, address what feels most pressing, and create a path toward lasting change and growth.

My Treatment Methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and make lasting behavior changes. In my practice, I use CBT collaboratively and flexibly, tailoring interventions to each client’s goals—whether that means working through anxiety, depression, anger, or relationship challenges. I integrate practical tools such as thought records, behavioral activation, and cognitive restructuring to support clients in building insight and achieving meaningful progress.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have training and experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in building skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. In my practice, I integrate DBT techniques in a practical and accessible way, helping clients manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce impulsive behaviors. I often weave DBT skills into sessions to provide clients with concrete strategies they can apply in daily life.

Interpersonal

I use Interpersonal Process Therapy to help clients gain insight into how their relational patterns and early experiences shape current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In my practice, I create a supportive space where clients can explore these dynamics in real time, deepen self-awareness, and practice healthier ways of relating. This approach is especially useful for addressing relationship concerns, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.

Multicultural

I use Multicultural Therapy to honor and integrate clients’ diverse cultural identities, values, and lived experiences into the healing process. In my practice, I create a space where clients feel seen and respected, while also exploring how cultural, racial, and societal factors impact mental health and relationships. This approach helps clients strengthen self-identity, navigate challenges, and build resilience in ways that align with their cultural context.

Trauma Informed Care

I practice Trauma-Informed Care by creating a safe, supportive environment that prioritizes trust, choice, and collaboration. I recognize the widespread impact of trauma and tailor my approach to avoid re-traumatization while helping clients build resilience and regain a sense of control. In sessions, I integrate trauma-informed principles with other therapeutic methods to support healing and empowerment.
